If you thought Facebook was a social network that helped you to connect to people you already know and make new friends, just look around. This is what I found on my page today.

Facebook is filled with so much crap that anything other than personal status updates look like crap to me. Wait… wasn’t the very purpose of Facebook sharing personal updates? The signal to noise ratio is way too high. It is high time Facebook does something about this.

You can say it is not Facebook’s fault. It is just the platform and the content is everyone of us. Yes. But there is no platform without the content. We wouldn’t be happy if Google said “All I give you is email. I dont really care on the number of dethroned Nigerian dictators you get emails from. It’s all your fault”. Facebook is probably already having a lot of filters. But apparently they are not enough. For instance there is no straightforward way for me to flag this. No, not the 14 year old pretending to be 16 that shared this. The original poster, that “Sports Fan Page” with a stupid name that makes you feel stupid and sick at the same time. There is possibly a way. But no straightforward way. Making it easier was Facebook’s responsibility. And they better do it fast.
