Generally the original is far more better than the remakes or the imitations. This is the opinion I hold.
I has watched Unnaipol Oruvan sometime bad and have been wanting to watch A Wednesday, its original, for sometime. Found some time today, and, was surprised to find the remake better than the original.
Generally I don,t like remakes. For me the idea belongs to the original thinker. So my full credit for the idea and story to A Wednesday.
But the remake is well polished and presented in a far elegant and better manner than the original. Could be that since Kamal Hasan had the story and a model before him, he could spend almost all his time making the movie on the screenplay and dialogues (Unnaipol Oruvan has very good dialogues..). But the remzke is definitely very good to watch than the original. It has less cinematic scenes, very good dialogue delivery and some interestng scenes (the scene where Arif interrogates the RDX broker, for instance.)
I have heard the opinion (from my friend and from Gnani, of Kumudham) that the role of Kamal hasan should have been played by a next level actor – say Pasupathi or Delhi Ganesh. Could be. But Kamalhasan’s dialogue delivery was amazing, and his role here was enjoyable.
And Mohanlal. He is a great actor, but the majesty he brings for his role in malayalam, he could not in this movie. Perhaps that was the intention, perhaps language was the reason.
Overall, Unnaipol Oruvan has far more glitter, presentation, screenplay and dialogues than A Wednesday. Of course, A Wednesday carries all the credit for the idea, story and the the way the plot is delivered.
